Peter Kľúčik
Peter Kľúčik (*March 16, 1953, Bratislava) is a prominent Slovak painter, graphic artist, and illustrator. From 1974 to 1980, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in the department of graphics and book illustration under the guidance of Professor Albín Brunovský.
His work focuses on painting, graphics, and book illustration. His artworks are characterized by depictions of fantastic zoologies, where he combines real and mythical animals. Among his well-known graphic series are "Map of the World I – III." and "Tauromachia I – V." He frequently employs the etching technique in his graphics.
Kľúčik has exhibited his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions not only in Slovakia but also in various European countries, the USA, and Canada. For his illustration work, he has received several awards, including the title "Most Beautiful Book of the Year" in 1984, 1987, 1990, and 1991, the Slovenský Spisovateľ Publishing Award in 1990, the Mladé Letá Publishing Award in 1991, a prize at the International Biennial of Illustration in Barcelona in 1990, and the Ľudovít Fulla Award in 1994.
